BuildGT is back for its second iteration, and it will be better than ever! More hardware, more workshops, and more time to create!

Feel unprepared? Don't worry! We'll have plenty of mentors on hand to help with projects and tooling. Also, check out BuildGT Week - a week-long celebration of hardware hacking that will feature hands-on workshops from HackGT and our partners.

On the day of the event, the Invention Studio and The Hive will be open to provide you with the tools and assistance to turn your ideas into reality!

New to hardware? No problem! The bootcamp route has resources for beginners to help you build your dream hack!

Learn the magic behind the hardware! If you're interested in designing your own circuits, working with microcontrollers, and building wearables, then this route is for you!

Robotics

See the power of hardware and software working together! We'll provide a variety of robotics kits, including Arduino robotics kits, LEGO Mindstorms, and Cozmos.

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an event where teams of students spend a weekend utilizing resources and support provided by HackGT to bring their ideas to life. These projects range from mobile applications to wearable teach to embedded hardware and more!

How much will this cost?

BuildGT is completely free! All you need to show up! We will provide the food, swag, and any other resources you need so you can focus on your creation!

Who can attend?

Anyone 18 years or older can attend! With the resources provided and beginner-friendly workshops, students from any background can come and enjoy!

How does judging work?

During the expo, projects will be judged on a variety of factors such as technical prowess, usability, and creativity.

What should I bring?

All you need to bring is yourself and your laptop! Feel free to bring anything else that you think would be helpful.

When can I register?

Registration is open until Wednesday, February 27th at 11:59 PM EST! You can do so here!

How long is the hackathon?

This year's event will be from 8am on March 2nd to 2am on March 3rd. You can find a more detailed schedule above!

What hardware will be there?

We'll be providing lots of hardware, including Arduinos, Oculus Rifts, Raspberry Pis, and more! A full list of available hardware is available here.

Will the Invention Studio and The Hive be open during BuildGT?

Yes! On Saturday, the Invention Studio will be open from 10 AM to 8 PM, while The Hive will be open from 10 AM to 12 AM.

Can I keep what I build?

Checked out hardware such as Raspberry Pis, Oculus Rifts, etc. are the only things you cannot keep. Everything else is fair game!

What size can teams be?

The max team size is 4 people.

What if I don't have a team?

We will have a mixer at the start of the event to help you find a team!
